As the first Chinese-foreign joint venture bank in China, Xiamen International Bank Co. Ltd. (XIB for short) was established in 1985 with its head office located in Xiamen. Thanks to the great support from the regulatory authorities and the government, the bank has successfully accomplished the capital increase and the joint-stock restructuring on April of 2013 with a capital increase of RMB5.6 billion, a registered capital amounting to RMB 2.0043 billion, and a shareholders’ equity exceeding RMB 10.5 billion. So far, XIB has transformed from a limited liability company to a joint-stock company as a whole, and from a foreign venture bank to a Chinese commercial bank.
XIB operates wholly-owned subsidiaries including Xiamen International Investment Limited (XIIL) in Hong Kong and Luso International Banking Limited (LIB) which runs eleven branches in Macau. In Mainland China, XIB operates twenty institutions located in cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Fuzhou, Zhuhai, Xiamen, Ningde, etc, and one representative office in Quanzhou. So far, the bank has formed an outlets distribution layout covering the four coastal developed economic zones including Western Coast of the Taiwan Strait, Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta and Circum-Bohai-Sea region, and meanwhile XIB has established correspondent relationships with nearly 620 banks around the world due to its global service network expanding and improving in the passing days.
As the first Sino–foreign joint venture bank in China, XIB recorded many "first" in various aspects. It was the first bank to run overseas institutions among all small and medium-sized commercial banks, the first to pilot RMB corporate banking service and comprehensive foreign exchange business, and the first to introduce in international financial institutions and overseas strategic investors. With the innovative development of more than 27 years, XIB has grown into a bank group with a good reputation at home and abroad. XIB ranked among the top 1000 world banks listed by the Banker (a British professional magazine), and was awarded the "Most Potential Regional Commercial Bank in China" by British Financial Times and Germany Roland Berger.
XIB adheres to the operating strategy of "running business with intelligence while keeping risk under control" and the service philosophy of "customer first", actively providing comprehensive financial service including RMB business to domestic and overseas customers in different kinds. As of the end of the 2012, the total assets of XIB amounted to RMB 206.6 billion, after-tax profit reached RMB1.002 billion, non-performing loans kept at 0.42%, and all major business indicators maintained at leading level among domestic banks.
XIB actively performs its social responsibilities and enthusiastically contributes to community. Moreover, the bank energetically advocates environmental protection by carrying out the "green-credit policy" which restricts loans facilities to high-pollution industries and adopting hundreds of mu of forest land.
