Panama's second largest bank Banco General Panama, established in 1955, provides a broad array of financial products and services including personal, business and private banking and trust services. Banco General Panama offers its banking customers a full line of banking products and services, including deposit products, credit products, and other banking services such as overdrafts, insurance, pension funds, and on-line banking and bill payment services. Banco General has a network of 60 branches nationwide, more than 300 ATMS, and 3,858 employees serving 590,595 customers. In addition, the bank has a subsidiary in Costa Rica (Banco General Costa Rica) and representative offices in Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. Panama's Grupo Financiero BG, which owns Banco General Panama, also controls brokerage firms BG Investment, BG Valores and various non-banking companies including insurers Empresa General de Seguros and Compania Istmena de Seguros, pension fund manager Pro Futuro and leasing company Finanzas Generales.
