Botswana Development Corporation Limited (BDC) was established in 1970 to be the country's main agency for commercial and industrial development. The Government of Botswana owns 100 percent of the issued share capital of the corporation. It offers debt financing, equity financing, and invoice discounting services. The company also develops and manages residential, commercial, industrial, and hotel properties; and provides property letting, lease management, rental collection, and property maintenance services. In addition, it is involved in the manufacture and supply of concrete products, including railway slippers; clay products, such as face bricks, pavers, and special shaped bricks to designers and craftspeople; and food cans that are used to package various products, such as dairy, fish, fruits, meat, and vegetables. Further, the company operates a conference and exhibition center, and lodge; provides export credit insurance, debt collection, legal insurance, and construction bonds; and lease farm for various integrated farming ventures.
