SES Societe Anonyme provides satellite communications services to broadcasters, content and Internet service providers, mobile and fixed network operators, and business and governmental organizations worldwide. It offers satellite capacity for direct-to-home broadcasting, and feeds for cable networks and digital terrestrial networks, as well as occasional use and full-time video contribution services; and broadcast-related services, such as playout and scheduling, uplinking and encryption, and others. The company also provides very small aperture terminal networks, broadband Internet access, mobile backhaul and trunking, maritime and aeronautical communications, and other services; and a range of communications links for government agencies and international institutions, as well as communication links for embassies, civil and military agencies, and first response teams in emergency situations. In addition, SES Societe Anonyme offers satellite connectivity for educational and medical purposes; and support digital inclusion programs, as well as provides turn-key networks and communications solutions to hosted payloads that are dedicated to a particular mission. As of April 4, 2013, it operated a fleet of 52 geostationary satellites. The company was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in Luxembourg.
